HOW WE CAN HELP

Connect with fellow group members through welcome songs, word warm-ups, and themed discussions

At TURNING THE COGS, Phillippa’s approach, based on evidence-based practices and principles from ‘Making a Difference 1 and 2’ by Aimee Spector et al., fosters a supportive environment where participants engage in stimulating activities and connect with fellow group members through welcome songs, word warm-ups, and themed discussions, ensuring each session is enjoyable, lighthearted, and mentally stimulating.

APPROACH

Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy

TURNING THE COGS uses Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) which is recommended in the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines for the treatment of mild to moderate dementia. CST has been proven to help slow the progression of dementia for some people during clinical trials showing it as effective as some of the anti-dementia drugs.
